Review: Johny Pate's output dates back to 1958, and that in itself is something to marvel at. The Chicago jazz bassist is a veteran, and the man has worked with some of the best and greatest, and he's had key appearances on legendary jazz labels such as King Records, MGM, and Parlophone. The original to 'You're Starting Too Fast' was out in 1970 on the Outrageous LP, and it has without a doubt stood the test of time; an energetic, riff-heavy funk monster with screeching organs and a bumpy groove, we simply love it. On the B-side, 'You Can't Even Walk In The Park' is dirtier, a little slower, and moody, but my word are those trumpets glorious.
